Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh signalled that inflation remains uncomfortable and policy may need to stay restrictive.<\/p><h2>Cross-asset reaction<\/h2><p>Reuters reported the U.S. dollar posting its strongest daily gain in roughly two and a half months while Treasury yields rose. Stocks weakened, with rate-sensitive technology and smaller companies among the laggards.<\/p><p>Bitcoin also fell more than 3% during the session, while gold and silver sold off as traders increased expectations for a September rate increase.<\/p><h2>Why one speech hit so many assets<\/h2><p>Higher expected policy rates affect the discount rate used across markets.
