sanctioned addresses, highlighting a growing operational problem for exchanges that must automatically screen incoming blockchain activity.<\/p><p>CoinDesk reported that Kraken received nearly 12,000 low-value transactions between August 17 and August 24. The pattern appeared designed to spread sanctioned funds across many addresses, causing compliance systems to flag otherwise unrelated users.<\/p><h2>Why this matters<\/h2><p>Public blockchains allow anyone to send assets to an address without the recipient&#8217;s consent. That makes so-called dusting or address-contamination attacks particularly awkward for regulated exchanges: they must respond to sanctioned flows, but innocent customers can become entangled simply because someone sent them a tiny amount.<\/p><p>The incident is a reminder that exchange account restrictions can sometimes be triggered by automated compliance controls rather than by a customer&#8217;s own trading behavior.<\/p><h2>What users can do<\/h2><p>Do not interact with suspicious unsolicited tokens or links attached to them.
