Reuters reported on August 29 that the restriction covers diesel, marine fuel and gas oils from Russian producers, while broader limits remain in place on gasoline and some other refined products.<\/p><p>The move comes as domestic fuel shortages have been aggravated by operational disruptions at Russian refineries following Ukrainian drone attacks. Russia is one of the world\u2019s largest diesel exporters, so restrictions on refined-product flows can matter globally even when headline crude prices are not making a dramatic move.<\/p><h2>Why diesel matters differently from crude oil<\/h2><p>Crude oil is the raw feedstock, but diesel is the product that powers trucks, industrial equipment, shipping and a large portion of commercial transport.
