Core Ethereum developers have published an early outline of the network’s next major scaling phase, focused on further reducing data availability costs for rollups. The proposal builds on previous upgrades that already cut L2 transaction fees significantly.
If adopted, the changes would allow rollups to post larger batches of transaction data more cheaply, potentially pushing L2 fees down further still. Developers caution the timeline remains tentative, with testnet trials expected before any mainnet activation date is set.
