Bitcoin Rebound Faces Its Hardest Week as the Fed and Congress Converge

Bitcoin’s late-summer recovery restored momentum after a drawdown toward $60,000. The market is now trading in the upper $70,000s, but the rebound is entering a two-event test: a Federal Reserve decision that could tighten dollar liquidity and a Senate vote that could reshape the U.S. framework for digital assets.

The bullish case rests on improving positioning, renewed exchange-traded fund demand and the possibility that clearer U.S. rules unlock longer-duration institutional allocation. Reuters reported nearly $2 billion of Bitcoin ETF inflows in August and a more constructive options skew, although traders still assign limited probability to a rapid return to the 2025 record.

The bearish case is macro. Higher rates and a stronger dollar raise the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets and can force deleveraging across perpetual futures. Bitcoin increasingly behaves like a liquidity-sensitive risk asset during policy shocks, even when its longer-term scarcity narrative remains intact.

The cleanest approach is conditional. A sustained break above $80,000 with improving spot volume would strengthen the recovery structure. Rejection in that area, especially alongside higher Treasury yields, would leave the market vulnerable to a return toward the former breakout zone.

NetNapz assessment

Cautiously bullish above the late-August recovery base, but event risk is unusually high. Structure improves above $80,000 and weakens sharply if macro tightening pushes price below the recovery range.

Bullish scenario

Constructive Fed guidance plus progress on market-structure legislation attracts new ETF and spot demand and supports an $80,000 breakout.

Bearish scenario

A hawkish Fed, bill failure or derivatives-led rejection above resistance triggers liquidation pressure and renewed risk reduction.

What traders should watch

$80,000 resistance; spot versus perpetual volume; ETF flows; dollar index; Treasury yields; Senate procedure and amendments.

Why this matters

Bitcoin sits at the intersection of macro liquidity and policy legitimacy this week. Either catalyst can dominate short-term price even if the longer-term adoption thesis is unchanged.

Bottom line

Treat $80,000 as confirmation, not an automatic target. Spot-led participation is healthier than a move built mainly on leverage.
