BNB Foundation Reports 1.65 Million BNB Quarterly Burn; Dollar Figure Is Not Cash Returned

The 19 October announcement reports completion of BNB’s 37th quarterly burn. Its roughly $1.20 billion valuation is a dated estimate, not a cash distribution or a verified new market purchase.

What the announcement reports

The BNB Foundation says 1,646,196.44 BNB was destroyed in the 37th quarterly burn, according to BNB Chain’s 19 October statement. It puts the approximate value around the burn at $1,197,344,519.40 and remaining total supply at 131,512,085 BNB, with figures dated 10:05 UTC. These are the issuer’s reported figures, not independently reconstructed supply totals.

The announcement describes Auto-Burn as a quarterly mechanism working toward a 100 million BNB supply target. It says the calculation reflects BNB’s price and BSC block production, with parameters adjusted for more frequent blocks after network upgrades. It also distinguishes the separate BEP-95 mechanism, which burns part of transaction gas fees.

NetNapz assessment: supply removal is not a payout

Assessment: the headline dollar value needs careful interpretation. Valuing destroyed coins at a reference price does not mean holders received that amount in cash. Nor does an announcement of destruction, by itself, document an equivalent purchase from the public market. Those are different transactions requiring different evidence.

A supply reduction also cannot establish a subsequent price direction. The market outcome depends on demand, available liquidity, holder decisions and what participants had already anticipated. A scheduled tokenomics event should therefore be analysed separately from evidence of fresh network use or investor inflows.

For comparisons between quarters, token units and the valuation timestamp are more informative than dollar headlines alone: a changing reference price can change a burn’s dollar value without a proportionate change in coins removed. Total supply and immediately tradable supply should not be treated as interchangeable measures.
