Morpho Proposes 11 New Midnight Liquidation Thresholds; Approval and Activation Unverified

Morpho Association proposes a broader set of liquidation loan-to-value ratios for its Midnight lending system. The request would change available market parameters, not automatically expand every borrower’s credit.

Morpho Association’s 4 November governance proposal seeks to enable 11 additional liquidation loan-to-value ratios, or LLTVs, on Morpho Midnight, increasing the available set from eight to 19. The proposer explicitly excludes Morpho Blue. NetNapz has not verified an approving ballot or execution.

More parameter choices, including higher thresholds

The proposed set spans 21.5% to 99.5%, including three values above 98% intended for highly correlated assets. The Association says builders have requested intermediate choices and that enabled LLTVs cannot subsequently be removed. It proposes enabling the additional values on each Midnight deployment after a successful vote.

The proposer argues that Midnight’s multi-market offers let lenders make the same capital available across markets with different LLTVs, limiting fragmentation compared with Blue’s isolated markets. That is the proposal’s design rationale, not a measurement of actual liquidity or borrower uptake.

What the contract documentation establishes

The official Midnight contract reference defines LLTV as a collateral parameter that must be enabled by governance. A collateral configuration also specifies an oracle and a liquidation cursor, which controls the liquidation incentive. The LLTV and cursor must form a compatible pair before a market can be created.

The same reference documents a getter for checking whether an LLTV is enabled for market creation. Its withdrawal function is separately constrained by available credit and withdrawable market liquidity. The official address directory identifies deployments, but a directory entry alone does not prove that a proposed parameter change has executed.

NetNapz assessment: permission is not a borrowing recommendation

Assessment: expanding the permitted menu gives market builders more configuration choices. It does not mean every existing market adopts a higher threshold, every lender accepts the resulting exposure or every borrower can immediately draw more funds. Those outcomes need market-specific evidence after governance and execution.

A higher liquidation threshold leaves less room between a heavily borrowed position and the point where its collateral is insufficient under the market’s rules. Calling assets highly correlated is therefore not enough to evaluate a particular market: pricing, redemption behavior and exit conditions still matter. The proposal supplies no independent stress test or realized-loss result in the material reviewed.

The next useful confirmations are the voting record, the execution transaction and the enabled-value checks for the relevant deployment. Monitoring should then distinguish permission to create a market from actual market creation, funding and usage. No MORPHO price effect, new yield level or reduction in liquidation risk follows automatically from this proposal.

Verification limits

Checked 7 November: the Morpho Association proposal, official Midnight contract reference, address directory and brand-assets page. “Midnight” here refers to Morpho’s fixed-rate lending system. NetNapz did not connect a wallet, open the lending application, query live contract settings, test liquidations or audit the code. Proposal publication on 4 November is distinct from this article’s 7 November publication; approval and activation remain independently unverified.
