AMD Q3 Revenue Hits $13.38B as Data Center Sales Surge 97%; Q4 Outlook Reaches $17B

AMD's 3 November filing shows a record quarter, driven by EPYC server processors and Instinct AI accelerators. The company forecasts further revenue growth, but its projections remain subject to execution and market risk.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) reported $13.377 billion in third-quarter 2026 revenue, a 45% year-over-year increase, according to the company's 3 November earnings release filed with its Form 8-K. The quarter's most striking growth came from the data center segment, where revenue reached $8.5 billion, up 97% from a year earlier.

AMD said demand for its EPYC server processors and Instinct graphics processing units supported growth. The figures are a company-reported result for the quarter ended in 2026, not the amount of cash committed by customers to future chip purchases.

What AMD actually earned

Reported, or GAAP, operating income was approximately $2.83 billion, net income was $2.43 billion and diluted earnings per share were $1.46. On the company's non-GAAP basis, net income was approximately $3.47 billion and diluted earnings per share were $2.09.

The distinction matters: non-GAAP earnings exclude specified costs and adjustments, so the $2.09 adjusted EPS figure should not be described as AMD's statutory reported earnings. Gross margin was 54% under GAAP and 56% under the company's adjusted presentation.

The client and gaming segment was more mixed, posting $3.7 billion in revenue, down 8% year over year. That is a reminder that rapid server and accelerator expansion does not necessarily imply identical trends across AMD's other product lines.

Fourth-quarter projection is not yet revenue

For the fourth quarter of 2026, AMD forecasts revenue of approximately $17 billion, plus or minus 3%, and non-GAAP gross margin around 55%. The midpoint implies an increase of roughly 27% from the third quarter, according to AMD's own presentation.

The forecast depends on execution, component availability, customer demand and the timing of shipments. Its publication does not establish that the projected revenue has already been booked. The company said it expected growth as it scaled new chip products, including the MI450 series and Venice processors.

How to read the numbers amid an AI equity sell-off

Strong earnings and a falling share price can coexist. Shares reflect expectations about long-term spending, margins, competitive position and valuation, not only the last quarter's results. The broader semiconductor decline on 5 November was reported separately amid concerns over data-centre regulation and AI infrastructure investment. Neither AMD's filing nor those market reports alone establishes the precise cause of AMD's stock movements.

NetNapz assessment and sources

NetNapz assessment: Data center growth is the dominant feature of this filing. The immediate follow-up is whether new chip shipments and the projected fourth-quarter revenue translate into sustainable margins, rather than assuming that one high-growth quarter fixes longer-term valuation questions.
