Aave Creates cirBTC Onboarding AIP #539; Ethereum Core Listing Remains Pending
Aave Labs reports creating the cirBTC onboarding proposal. A vote is a separate step from approval, execution and usable collateral.

Proposal creation moves the process forward
Aave Labs said on 5 November that it had created AIP #539 for onboarding cirBTC to Ethereum’s Aave V3 Core and V4 Core instances. Its forum update said voting would begin in less than twelve hours. NetNapz has not verified a subsequent vote result, execution or live listing.
The proposal thread includes LlamaRisk’s earlier, conditional support tied to liquidity bootstrapping. Its dated recommendations include separate caps for the two versions and a supply-only V4 Tokenization Spoke. Those recommendations are not evidence of deployed settings. LlamaRisk discloses partial Aave DAO funding.
Issuer backing and collateral eligibility are different
Circle describes cirBTC as a Bitcoin-backed token available on Ethereum and Arc. Its product page says every unit is backed one-for-one by native BTC and identifies eligible institutional users as its target participants. These are issuer statements, not an independent NetNapz reserve audit.
Circle’s dated reserve dashboard and product availability do not establish that a particular Aave market accepts the token. This report concerns the proposed Ethereum Core onboarding, rather than treating availability on another network as confirmation.
NetNapz assessment
NetNapz assessment: The useful milestone is governance progression, not a new lending service already available to users. Before collateral can support a position, approval must be distinguished from implementation and the actual market configuration checked. A headline supply limit also cannot establish usable liquidity.
For holders, the wrapper introduces issuer and redemption dependencies alongside Bitcoin exposure. A governance proposal does not remove those dependencies or guarantee a borrower’s exit. The next reporting checkpoints are a verifiable voting outcome, execution record and deployed collateral settings.
Verification scope
NetNapz checked the official proposal discussion, Circle’s product page, existing published coverage and the featured-media record. No wallet, trading application, live position or independent contract audit was used.
