Circle Q3 Revenue Reaches $865M as ARC Presale Drives Other Revenue and Reserve Income Falls
Circle reported $865M in total revenue and reserve income and $226M in continuing-operations profit. Reserve income fell 8%, while a $182M ARC token presale drove most other revenue.
Circle Internet Group reported third-quarter 2026 results on 4 November, saying total revenue and reserve income rose 17% from a year earlier to $865 million. Net income from continuing operations increased 5% to $226 million. The company also reported $317 million of adjusted EBITDA, an 85% increase, but that non-GAAP measure was materially helped by revenue recognized from an ARC token presale.
The result combines two businesses with different drivers. Circle earns reserve income from assets backing USDC and EURC, while it also receives platform, subscription, transaction and other revenue. The quarter's composition matters because lower reserve yields reduced the first stream even as token-related revenue lifted the second.
Reserve income fell as the return rate declined
Reserve income decreased 8% year over year to $658 million. Circle attributed the decline mainly to a 61-basis-point drop in its reserve return rate to 3.5%, partly offset by an 8% rise in average USDC circulation to $73.3 billion.
End-of-period USDC circulation was $73.9 billion, unchanged from a year earlier. Circle said onchain USDC transaction volume reached $13.9 trillion during the quarter, up 49%. That transaction figure describes activity recorded by the company across blockchain networks; it is not revenue and does not measure unique economic purchases.
Revenue less distribution costs, a company performance measure, rose 55% to $453 million. Circle reported a 52% margin on that measure. Investors should distinguish it from GAAP operating income and from adjusted EBITDA, both of which use different cost definitions.
ARC presale supplied most other revenue
Other revenue increased 627% to $207 million. Circle said $182 million came from the ARC token presale, meaning the presale represented most of that line for the quarter. The company also said lower subscription and services revenue partly offset the increase.
Circle completed a genesis mint of 10 billion ARC tokens and described ARC as the planned security, utility and governance mechanism for its Arc layer-one network. Arc launched its public mainnet on 16 September, while Circle said a transition toward proof of stake is planned for 2027.
ARC is a network token, not Circle common stock. Holding ARC does not by itself grant ownership of Circle Internet Group, and a token presale should not be treated as recurring operating revenue without evidence of comparable future sales. Circle's own risk disclosures say the token and network carry execution, market, operational, legal and regulatory uncertainty.
Payments expansion remains conditional
Circle said it signed an agreement to acquire Singapore-based cross-border payments platform Tazapay. The company expects the deal to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. The announcement therefore establishes an agreement, not a completed acquisition.
Circle also disclosed that Binance announced a $100 million equity investment in Circle and an expanded USDC partnership. Equity in Circle and exposure to USDC or ARC are separate: neither stablecoin balances nor ARC tokens represent shares in the company.
For the full year, management maintained guidance of $310 million to $330 million for other revenue, a 41.7% to 43.7% revenue-less-distribution-cost margin and $570 million to $585 million of adjusted operating expenses. Circle specified that the other-revenue range includes recognized ARC presale revenue.
NetNapz assessment
NetNapz assessment: the quarter shows stronger circulation-related activity and lower distribution costs, but it also highlights earnings sensitivity to interest rates and revenue mix. Average USDC circulation grew while the reserve return rate fell, producing lower reserve income. At the same time, one presale supplied most other revenue and helped adjusted EBITDA growth.
The next useful checks are whether end-of-period USDC circulation resumes growth, how reserve income responds to future yield changes, whether subscription and services revenue stabilizes, and whether Arc's planned proof-of-stake transition proceeds with public technical and governance evidence. None of the reported figures establishes a future direction for Circle shares, USDC usage or ARC's market value.
